Campers will have a good introduction/reinforcement of literacy skills. We will work on phonemic awareness, sound/letter associations, blending and spelling CVC words. Learning is paired with a good balance of play that includes daily crafts, sensory play, splash pad visits, movies, games and local field trips. We typically end the week with pizza and ice cream too.
Each week we will have a new theme so campers can look forward to something new.
Ocean Theme- August 6th
Activities will be based on an ocean theme this week. If your camper loves the water, then they will enjoy building their literacy skills with an ocean theme this week. Campers will learn words associated with the ocean, read themed stories, talk about what we would find in an ocean and oh, did I mention that we will get wet!
Storybook Theme - August 12th
Activities will be based on popular storybooks this week and writing one they can call their own. If your camper loves to read, has a good imagination but is intimated by the thought of writing, or likes to write stories but not sure how to develop a story, then they will enjoy this week. Don’t worry if your camper is not there yet with writing, they will have plenty of pre-made stories to choose from, or they can draw their story and we will help them with the writing. The purpose of this camp is to learn the key elements of a story and build confidence.
Nature Theme - August 19th
Activities will be based on the outdoors and nature this week. Campers will love this week, if they enjoy being active and outside with critters. Campers will enjoy nature themed literacy activities, reading themed stories and learning words associated with nature.
